Background Investigations & Due Diligence

All background investigations are not created equal.  Suffice it to say, you often do NOT even get what you pay for.  Reliance on the myriad of quick and dirty $29.95 databases found on the internet simply does not provide a proper background check.

There are over 3,000 counties and 88,000 municipalities located within our 50 states, as well as 94 Federal District Courts.  Communication between them is alarmingly sparse.  A simple criminal check on-line, without thoughtful and diligent consideration, may show “No Record,” but you really don’t know the half of what may be out there.  Missing arrests, convictions, bankruptcies and civil suits are the norm for those who advertise the speedy and cheap background searches.

For instance, one should know the past addresses of the subject, so those locales can be searched in local, county, state and federal repositories.  Inasmuch as these agencies don’t contribute uniformly with one another, we are left with a hodge-podge of data that must be culled over to be sure that a “No Record” is complete.  One must also be cognizant of aliases, alternate spellings, maiden and marriage names.  Next time you run across one of those cheap and fast internet search companies, ask them if they will guarantee their search and if they carry Errors & Omissions Insurance.

Nowadays, no true background check is complete without a thorough Social Media Search. Often the information people divulge on these sites provides insight not otherwise available. This type of data can really assist you in your decision making process. ABS now includes research of more than 35 known social media sites in our background research. All because you need to know!
